Adelaide's Royalty

Last Thursday saw the crowning of the 2009 Christmas Pageant's King and Queen; Matt Nolis and Marie Antoniou.

It has been tradition since 1940 to have a Pageant Queen, originally chosen from the staff of John Martins who ran the pageant. Since 1996 when SA's Credit Unions became sponsors of the event, there has been a Queen and six Princesses selected from staff of the 6 Credit Unions.

This year men have been included; we now additionally have a King and five Princes.

Well, finally! We guys were feeling left out! Great to have the good-looking guys included, too. Fun and royal photos indeed! All their royal highnesses look smashing!

Do you celebrate Christmas in July as some New Zealanders do? They say the cold winter makes it more appropriate. Some even have a tree.

Ann - I certainly don't; one Christmas a year is certainly enough. Some people do have July Christmas dinner celebrations, but it is not that widespread. I do not know of anyone having a tree though.
