ABC Wednesdays - W for Water Sculpture

The Warriparinga Wetlands Water Sculpture was created in 2002 by artists Andrew Stock and John Wood. The stainless steel structure features lazer-cut images of water insects that can be found in the wetlands. Located on the corner of Marion Road and Sturt Road it is a symbolic 'signpost' to the Wetlands behind it.

You can see and read about the Warriparinga Wetlands on one of my previous posts here.

The ABC Wednesday meme was created by Denise Nesbitt. To find out more about ABC Wednesdays and see other participants' contributions click here

It is amazing you captured so much details of the insect. What do you call it? a water "flea"? Makes me wish I have a camera like yours.

Cheers,

Ann :)

The pictures of the insects are amazing! It looks as if there's an iridescent layer underneath a veneer of smooth metal, so that the patterned part shows through when the top layer is removed. Great texture and detail for insect bodies. :)

Very impressive indeed! Beautiful and comprehensible, because most modern art is either beautiful and incomprehensible, or ugly and comprehensible! Good choice!
