March Theme Day: Graffiti or street mural

Today is theme day in the CDP community. Since starting this blog I have photographed a lot of street art and graffiti.

I have chosen to show this one; the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles doing their bit for conservation. This along with at least a dozen other significant sized murals are painted on walls alongside the Sturt Creek.

I do not know the origins of any of this street art/graffiti, but it is certainly nice to see instead of the mindless tags that 'decorate' so much of our city with teams of people, volunteers and council workers, spending so much time and money cleaning it up.

Over 140 other City Daily Photo sites are participating. Please pay them a visit.

Don't you wish all of them had some similar meaningful message?

This one is also so neatly done. This kind of graffiti I support completely. I so wish we had more like this instead of the vandalism that takes place in Mobay.

I used to love the cartoons of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

My sons used to watch the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...and I don't mind a pretty mural with a good message! Nice photo. :)

I was always a Ninja Turtle fan, and I was pretty stoked when they came out with a new TMNT series a couple of years ago... so I s'pose I'm biased, but I do like this mural and the Turtles' conservationist efforts.

Lovely photo of said mural, too. :)

I'm astounded people still know who the mutant ninja turtles are!

Green Boy is astounded.

Well, who are they anyway, Sally? (JUST KIDDING!) Colourful and creative.

I remember the Ninja Turtles as being very popular when my kids were little, I remember making a Ninja turtle costume for my 3-year old son for carnival !

A true artist; my emission preferred in my youth

HI Gordon, I will never forget the first time I heard my 8 year old -who is now 26-talk about Michelangelo, Raphael, Donatello and Leonard as if he knew who they were.I was amazed he had learned so much in school and thought he was a genius! Imagine my surprise when I realized it was a cartoon....you brought back a very nice memory for me! Love your choice!

indeed certainly more interesting than mindless tagging

That was a good choice, Gordon. Like you, I liked to find Graffiti, when I was younger. I still do, but I'm not hunting like it like I used to.

It's been so many years since I watch the Ninja Turtles cartoon!

Happy Theme Day!

Ok, now that is art and not graffiti.

I just realized that we Internet users have copped another word from the city gangs: tags. But the murals you show are fun and worthwhile. (I am of two minds about graffiti.) This is quite an interesting theme. Here is my CDP: Street Art entry (too late for the list). Thank you.

Great choice Gordon, and very apt in Adelaide these days with the water restrictions.
