Both cities have many public parks, gardens and recreational areas. In 1997 Christchurch was named 'Garden City of the World.'
We both even have heritage trams! See an Adelaide heritage tram here. When I visited Christchurch in 2006 I really felt quite at home.Adelaide's other sister cities are Austin (USA), Georgetown (Malaysia) and Himeji (Japan).

These are nice photographs, Gordon, and I really like that trolley in the bottom picture. It reminds me of those that used to run in nearby, Dayton, Ohio, home of NCR (National Cash Register) where I worked for a number of years. Now, however, the trolley tracks are gone and with them went the trolley cars replaced by Diesel pollution generating buses.
I also like the top photo as it reminds me, somewhat, of Victoria, BC.

Nice to have a sister near by. The Adelaide tram looks very like one here in Seattle which came from down your direction. Not sure if it was Adelaide, or not, but is currently not running along our waterfront due to the Olympic Sculpture Park having taken over it's storage barn space. Hopefully our city plans to put it back into service before too many more years. Happy theme day!

Oh yes, how alike the two cities are. Perhaps more culture going on in Adelaide? Maybe I'm wrong there -but I do see the similarities in style and feel. Nice photos too.
Lovely mini-visit to Adelaide - I fell in love with it on 2 visits there, also to Flinders Pass, ferry over Murray river, tram ride to Glenelg (and later even to Marree) so all very nostalgic. Thank you!
Very interesting and beautiful. I had yet to visit New Zealand. It looked like a beautiful place.
