Our new trams

This is one of Adelaide's new trams; a French-built Citadis. It made its first public run on Proclamation Day; a return trip from Glenelg to the City.

This tram is one of six recently purchased from the Mintra, the Spanish Rail Authority. They will supplement our existing fleet of eleven German built Flexcity Classic trams.

Pity the old ones aren't still running - one of my fav things when visiting Adelaide was catching the Glenelg tram - the old red/brown one. Riding in the new ones just wouldn't be the same. Doesn't have the same appeal. I've always loved old things and antiques.
Happy New Year and all the best for 2010.
Cheers.

The vintage H-class tram cars (old red/brown ones) run on weekends and public holidays. A short trip from Glenelg to the Morphetville Racecourse and return; a free service the departs every 30 minutes.

Hi Gordon,

My wife and I stayed in 2009 at Adelaide. We left in December and missed the launch of the new trams. Thanks for the photos. We miss Adelaide and your photos help us keep updated :)
