ABC Wednesdays - B for Brighton

Brighton is beachside suburb just south of Glenelg. This is a view of Brighton looking north from Kingston Park. In the foreground is the beach in front of the Seacliff Yacht Club where club members and the public can launch their boats.

This is a shot looking south.

These photos are from my archives; I had intended going out yesterday afternoon to take some fresh shots but I renigged on doing so as we had our hottest day for five years; 43.2 degrees Celsius (109.7 degrees F) at 3pm. Today is forecast to be even hotter.

(PS - I just checked and it reached 44.7 at 12:40; looks like we are in for another heatwave.)

Still very beautiful, I love the beach! Wow pretty hot there, eh? Tonight we are having a winter storm warning, up to 10 inches of snow (not sure of the metric measurement)
Blessings

Very beautiful photos.

So very hot, what did you do? Sit under a tree and sip ice cold 4X?
Or do you not drink that Queens;and beer?

We are hot, but nothing like the Aussie heat. Couple of day ago, we were in the high 20s, and I felt hot. I was thinking of my siblings in the Gold Coast and Brisbane.

Cheers,

Ann

Gordon, apparently it said on the radio it clocked 47 degrees at North Adelaide> OMG is it possible?? I thought that was country weather.
BTw the shots look beautiful! If it weren't for my shark fear, I'd be in that water right now!

I'd stay indoors at those temperatures too! Wonderful photos of the ocean and shore.

Oh my goodness. That's too hot for anything. Glad you had pictures in your archives to do the letter B.

B is for Burning Hot - No way! It's not supposed to be that hot close to the ocean. The weather just doesn't listen.
I like the city skyline in the 1st photo.
On your comment about surfing in the winter without a wetsuit - my husband grew up doing just that.

It looks a lot warmer and sandier than Brighton Beach in the UK. The expanse of water is a beautiful light blue and so still

Good grief ... 44.7C That's more than six degrees hotter than our hottest day ever, and I don't much like it about about 28!

No wonder that doesn't look much like our Brighton. Your Brighton has sand, not pebbles, and looks a darn sight sunnier!

So beautiful! It made me long for the beach.

Beautiful photos... Love the shoreline in the first shot...and the city in the background...I didn't go out yesterday because it was too cold and snowy...

Brighton beach Australia certainly has far more sand than Brighton England ...

But does it have a Royal Pavilion dating from the 1800's ?

Enjoy the heat .....

A little bit jealous of the heat you have, we have about 10 degrees, cold ones, and a lot of snow. Thank you for your B which made my toes a bit warmer. =o)

Hi Gordon,

I forgot to mention in New Zealand, we have a New Brighton. It is one of the best surf spots in the Christchurch area, New Brighton is a perennial summertime seaside favourite. With a sprawling swimming beach, the large New Brighton pier, and good shopping. We went there and my husband loved the pier.

Ann
p/s of course, we never get as hot as you.

Is the temperature cooler at the beach? Seems to me it always was at the beaches I had occasion to visit. Beautiful photos, just beautiful!
