ABC Wednesdays _ A for Albino Kangaroo

Albino kangaroos are quite rare, and apparently very few survive in the wild. I photographed this albino kangaroo at Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary near Mylor in the Adelaide Hills.

I first visited Warrawong a couple of years ago when I dined in the restaurant and then went on a nocturnal guided tour. I have returned several times since during the day; there is free entry between 9am and 4pm daily.

The ABC Wednesday meme was initiated by Denise Nesbitt. To find out more about ABC Wednesdays and see other participants' contributions click here.

I am back for round 6 of ABC Wednesdays, having had a break during round 5. I look forward to renewing acquaintances with 'old' ABC Wednesday bloggers and meeting 'new' ones.

Oh, what a great capture, Gordon! Love kangaroos, but needless to say I've never seen an albino one! What a beautiful little guy! Glad to see you back! Hope the rest of your week goes well!

Great capture, my first ever at seeing an albino kangaroo.

I didn't realize that they don't have a good survival rate in the wild. I've only seen them in captivity as well. He is cute.

That's a great shot of that "lazy", fluffy, white kangaroo! Someday I'll see a live kangaroo in Australia!

Lovely shot of the albino kangaroo. I have been to Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary a couple of times, during my visits to my son and his family, who live in the Adelaide Hills. I enjoyed it very much but didn't see that particular kangaroo.

Albino animals are quite cute, aren't they? And this one has ridiculously long eyelashes!

I know they don't do well in the wild, though, any more than birds with the wrong colour feathers. Sometimes our blackbirds have a few white ones, and they often get mobbed by the other birds.

was watching the cycling last night, and thinking of you taking photos in the heat.

Your brought plenty of ice?

Tomorrow I take my son and sis's kid for the second time to Dream world. Oh the heat!!!!

Two days ago, I was sitting under the shade but still in the heat for 7 hours at Wet N Wild.

Do you come up to the Gold Coast?

Ann - It was hot, but ours is a clear, dry heat; much more pleasant than the humid weather they get on the Gold Coast this time of year. We watched the race from under a shady tree in the country. It was actually quite pleasant as ther was a breeze.

I haven't been to the Gold Coast fro quite some time; maybe again in the next couple of years.
