ABC Wednesday - B for Beach Cleaner

This is "The Boss Beach Cleaner" which I found working to clean up Glenelg Beach after a busy Monday holiday. The operator tows it up and down the beach and from what I gather, this happens every day starting at daybreak.

This is a quote from the manufacturers website:

"Beachcleaners International have taken the principle of hand raking and automated it with the revolutionary BOSS Beach Cleaner. The principle of sifting and lifting the unwanted debris from sandy areas has led to the development of this simple and compact unit designed to provide years of reliable service.

Towed behind a conventional tractor, the BOSS Beach Cleaner can pick up glass, cigarette butts, bottle tops, plastic, seaweed, syringes, cans and drift wood faster than any other beach cleaner; this innovative product is doing its part to help clean our environment."

Hmmm. But is powered by fossil fuel? I'm not arguing that a dirty beach isn't disgusting and needs to be cleaned. :-) Just wondering if the machine is as good for the environment as the ad claims.

Interesting! I didn't know there was such a thing.

Fascinating! I've never heard of this. I suppose it needs bigger beaches than the ones I'm used to.

Guess we don't have those yet because each year in the fall there is a big cleanup at the beach. Neat entry for B tho. . . the things I have learned this morning!

I wonder if Vancouver has any of those things to clean up our beaches, especially after events like Symphony of Fire.

Well, that's a first for me. What a great invention.

With what washes up on our beaches around here this is a great invention.

Thanks for the comments. I also did not know such a machine existed until Monday morning when I went to the beach very early.

This is the great thing about blogging; I am seeing my locality in a new light as well as seeing so many interesting things in other places.

The beach cleaner is a perfect "B" photo. You really do live in Paradise, you know; what a terrific beach community!

Oooooooooooh! Uncle Gordan this is a big machine. I wonder if I will come across any machines in the arctic during my expedition?
I have joined in ABC Wednesday, what a lovely group of people you all are.
