Retired giants

Like two sentinels standing guard; these two cranes on dock 2 at Port Adelaide are no longer in use.

Times have changed and so have the facilities and operations at Port Adelaide.

That's sad to see. Maybe they will be sold and shipped to China?

Why aren't they used? Because they are old (don't even think it!!) or because there is less for them to do?

The reason for them not being used is that new facilities are being used; like a large container terminal, roll-on-off facilities and bulk handling. Dock 2 is no longer used for mainstream cargo ships.

They look very impressive whether they are used or not! Nice shot....Will they recycle them or just leave them?

These cranes should be kept an preserved. They make part of Adelaide's port heritage! They are beautiful!
