Torrens outlet

The River Torrens flows into the sea just beyond the bridge. Prior to 1938 the Torrens did not flow into the sea. Waters from the river flowed into a series of wetlands and lagoons, and eventually into the Patawalonga to the south and the Port River to the north. The outlet was constructed after a major flood in 1933.

I’ve been tagged by Carol Anne of Arkansas Times to play along in the New Years Resolution game. She was tagged by Kim of Celina Daily Photo.

Here is how the game goes: When it comes to New Year’s Resolutions we seem to fall into four categories: 1) quite serious about them, 2) flippant about them, 3) pressured to do them, or 4) do not do them. So, the purpose of this little game is to let us know which category you are in. I will give mine, then tag 3 other sites to do the same thing.

I guess I really fall into category 4. I do however have a couple of ongoing goals/resolutions which are to finish all the projects I have started or planned. To achieve these I probably need to spend less time on the computer. (Then why am I doing this - the blog, the photography? I guess it is because I like a challenge; it keeps the mind active.)

Now to tag three others: Sailor Girl at Atlantico Azul (Lisbon) and D & T of Athens [Perspective] and Rambling Round of Selma, Ala. Daily Photo. If you haven’t already, go check out their sites, as well as Jim’s and Carol Annes.

Is Adelaide suffering because of the droughts? I know that there is a lot of rice grown in Australia but this seems to go against the climate.

Thanks for the tag. I did one, but I don't think I did it right, and I didn't tag anybody else. So I will do yours as well!

Clarice - in Adelaide we have water restrictions; eg no sprinklers and hose hand watering allowed only one day a week for a few hours. We rely on water from the River Murray to supplement the water in our reservoirs. Many of us believe that water used for growing rice affects the flows in the Murray. The Rice growers counter this argument. See

Mmmm, thanks. I understand that the farmers have spent a lot of time and money improving their irrigation systems but it still seems odd that any water is being diverted to grow a crop that can be grown elsewhere without irrigation. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Best wishes :-)

Nice photo of the beautiful horses. I had been to perth, melbourne and brisbane and I hope I will get a chance to visit Adelaide too. Have a nice weekend.

Very good the photograph, with the horses and the bridge in the depth, the luminous day strengthens colours and makes good in our mental disposal.
