This young joey was reared by caring humans after its mother was killed in road accident. About a year old now it is now living at Warrawong Sanctuary, in the Adelaide Hills.
This western grey kangaroo joey has a diet of grass and shrubs, supplemented by milk from a bottle. A joey would normally live in its mother's pouch for about 9 months, and continue to drink her milk for about another 9 months.

They are so adorable - great photos!
I visited Warrawong Sanctuary almost 20 years ago, and remember it well. Thanks for sharing the story of joey.
When my Mum was living in the Gold Coast, she used to visit my brother who had a house in the bush. On the way, she commented that the land would be very fertile to grow sweet corn in the bush.
My brother told her that the kangaroos would eat up her seedlings. Undetered, she went ahead and grew the sweet corn at the edge of my brother's property. She soon learnt that Kangaroos love sweet corn.
That is an animal I have only seen in zoos - very fascinating.
Joey sure is a cute little fellow, fascinating animals. Nice so hear that story.
Have a great day my friend, I wish I could have joined you to your Botanical rose garden. :-)
