April Theme Day: Water

Adelaide's tap water is quite suitable for drinking, but because it is treated with chlorine for bacterial control, at times it has an odour. Many people have installed filters in their homes to remove unwanted sediments and chemicals; resulting in very nice tasting water. However, many others buy bottled spring water.

Here is an alternative; the 'Charity Water Fountain' courtesy of the West End Brewery, Adelaide Bank and Chubb. For $1 you can fill up a large container of quality water; the same water used to make beer (so it must be good!).

The brewery uses four wells that tap into water in the Willunga Aquifer 200 metres below the site. The water is always pure and of consistently high quality; a result of gradual filtration through limestone over thousands of years.

To date over $815,000 has been raised and passed on to numerous South Australian charities.

Over 170 other City Daily Photo sites are participating. Please pay them a visit.

The water must be great if they use it for beer. How's the beer? I can only dream about it:)

This is great, what an interesting choice for theme day. Very fitting, I think! :)

Clean water is really of the highest importance... So the Charity Water Fountain is a nice thing. :)

Original choice, and especially as very important (especially in the office)

It's a very good idea. Nice story! I guess it also brought them a lot of advertising for the brewery!

great story!
And if you prefer fizzy water with a taste you can always sneak in next door and buy yourself a beer.

No pelicans in Avignon, Gordon, I imported it from Australia courtesy of the cloning device in Photofiltre.

I knew nothing about your daylight saving extension. Thanks for telling us yesterday. I like it when you go in winter time and we switch to summer because time difference between France and Australia goes from 10 hours to only 8, which makes things much easier.

Good water makes tea, coffee, cooking...better.

Gerald (SK14) said...

we filter the tap water for making tea and use bottled water for drinking. We miss not being able to motor down to Buxton and fill up our bottles free from the town well.

Is it the water that tastes so good, or the beer?! ;>)

how cool, the water filtered through limestone sounds good, and also the fact that it is used to help the needy!

Interesting story. And who doesn't enjoy a beer every now and then!

Sounds like a wonderful idea. I would be more likely to buy from there than the bottled water.

This is a brilliant idea! And a good choice for the theme :)

Indeed that is such a good alternative. Personally, I don't drink tap water because of the taste. I wish I could because bottled water is quite expensive.

Great take on the theme.

Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo and leaving your comments.
